PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT 2🌼
3D-PRINTING🎁
In today's lesson, the first ICPD (Introduction to Chemical Product Design) lesson after term break!! Dr Noel got our customised keychain 3D printed, it was so cool and prettyyy!
Here's a sneak peak of it!!👀
Thus, coming into this week, we are focused on 3D printing, the importance of advanced manufacturing focusing on digital fabrication.
What is Digital Fabrication?
- Digital Fabrication is a design and production process that combines 3D-modeling by computer.
Each group was assigned to a topic do research on and do a short presentation to the class adopting peer teaching approach.
Our group focused on:
- 3D Printing materials - common & novel
- Choosing the suitable thermoplastic for FDM 3D printing
- Briefly discuss the characteristics, strengths and limitation and possible areas of application of common thermoplastic materials that are used for FDM 3D printing such as PLA (Polylactic Acid), ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene), PETG (Polyethylene Terephthalate), TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane), etc.
Click onto the link below to see what we have prepared for our presentation!
After all groups have presented on their topic, we were all required to go onto blackboard to try out a quiz to test on our understanding of each topic presented.
